- January 2012: Seven Vaka Moana have continued their journey across the Pacific, from San Diego via Mexico and Galapagos Islands among others to Solomon Islands. The Vaka Moana were designed, constructed and rebuilt by Okeanos in co-operation with Salthouse Boatbuilders in Auckland, together with the help and expertise of the Polynesian people. - July 1 - July 14, 2012: The crews of the seven Vaka Moana will attend the 11th Festival of Pacific Arts at Solomon Islands. It is expected that more than 3,000 artists and cultural practitioners from 27 Pacific countries will converge on Honiara to showcase their arts and cultures.
- July 1 - July 14, 2012: A prototype Vaka Motu (= traditional sailing canoe for small islets) christened "Okeanos", was successfully launched on November 3, 2011, from Salthouse Boatbuilders in Auckland, New Zealand. It will continue to be tested over the next couple of months. “Okeanos” will be presented to the Pacific Island community and the broader public at the "Festival of Pacific Arts", Solomon Islands. - The Pacific Voyagers Foundation in Oahu, Hawai’i continues to expand its activities in the Pacific region. A new website will be launched at the beginning of 2012.
